Talent retention is a major concern for companies today, particularly in Switzerland where competition to attract and retain the best candidates is fierce. Training is often seen as a cost for the company, but it can be a long-term investment in the future. In fact, according to a 2019 LinkedIn Learning study, 58% of employees consider training to be a key factor in their motivation at work.

And, according to a study by the Institute for Research and Innovation (IRI - 2018), companies offering professional training programs experience a 24% drop in turnover.

Beyond building employee loyalty, investing in training helps keep ahead of innovations by ensuring that employees are adapted to their missions and enabling the company to remain competitive over the long term.

This was demonstrated by a 2019 study by consulting firm Boston Consulting Group, which revealed that companies that invest in training and skills development for their employees have 2.3 times higher sales growth than companies that don't invest.

Training as a means of developing employee skills

Training also enables employees to develop their skills and improve their performance at work. They will then be able to better understand their missions, optimize their task management and improve their productivity. A survey by AT Kearney reveals that companies that invest in employee training are 21% more productive than those that don't (2019).

Employees are also more confident in their ability to solve problems, giving them greater autonomy and job satisfaction. A factor confirmed by a 2018 survey by the European Association for Training and Development (EATD) revealed that 63% of employees consider ongoing training to be essential for their professional future.

Training, a means of meeting employees' needs

By offering training and development programs, companies can meet the individual needs of their employees and help them achieve their professional goals, as revealed by a CapGemini study in 2022. According to this study, 65% of employees say that training and skills development is one of the most important aspects at work.

Employees are then more satisfied with their work and tend to stay with the company longer, as confirmed by the 2019 LinkedIn Learning study, which reveals that 94% of employees would stay longer with a company if it invested in training.

Training plays a decisive role in employee job satisfaction, and consequently in the long-term retention of talent. It is therefore essential to offer training courses that are adapted to employees' missions, positions and expectations, in order to foster their commitment.
